A success story for our institute - Tai Chi can really happen in the park

Below are positive comments from people who participated

Well, it was a big success, 200 students, enthusiasts and members of the public turned up...also BBC West Midlands Today News camera team showed up. If you have Interactive/Digital you can get to see us every half an hour apparently. We may be on the Terrestrial Channel News too but it's all depends on how England do in the Football."Talk about a definition of mixed emotions"....almost as bad as your mother in-law driving off the edge of a cliff in your brand new sports car.

The day started with a speech given to the public by Professor Li's son in-law Tary Yip, the founder and chief Instructor of our institute. Who lead all participants in simple Qi Gong. then there was a demonstration of the international 24 step modern Yang. The weather was most pleasant and sunny which is a refreshing change, many peoples attitudes where up lifted and stimulated and they could feel the good vibes emanating from the graceful poise of all who were practising.

The banners that I made all so helped to provide oriental flavour and although the brass band round the corner had decided to start early because of the football it didn't impinge on the fun of the whole day. Many workshops were given on the Dao Yin Qi gong form, and the 8 Step Yang created for people with Arthritis and the Elderly, the Eight Treasures Qi Gong.… next came the 32 Yang Long Chuan Sword (done with telescopic training swords for Health and Safety reasons) which drew the crowds.

Followed by more workshops....and the thunderous fast and slow Taiji Kung-fu Fan which ended in cheers and rounds of applause, and cries of encore, encore. Finally another demonstration of the 24 step Yang style with everyone joining and having a go. Many people enjoyed the day, although they probably couldn't quite put their finger on why, but hopefully they'll come back now they've had a taste and sign up for classes. Also many friends from other organisations were made, i think it is something we will try and do next year, along with seni 07.....NEC B'ham Arena Only hopefully next year it will be bigger maybe i'll get some Dragon Dancers, etc.

John and I really enjoyed Tai Chi in the Park. It felt more natural doing Tai Chi out of doors as they do in China, but the weather helped. It was nice to see how many people turned up to watch or join in and we were glad to hear that new people joined the classes after experiencing the event.

Certainly looking forward to next years event, may be we should have one in Spring and Autumn weather permitting

This event was my introduction to the Deyin Institute and from the time I arrived, the experience was enjoyable. Done in the open air in a relaxed family setting, led by Tary with his experienced instructors everyone was encouraged to join in the group sessions. One aspect I particularly enjoyed was when the whole assembly of people was split into groups led by the instructors, so instruction was easier to follow. Since the event I have started attending classes.......................in other words I am hooked !!!

Thanks for the day and here's to the next time Kind regards.
